The history of the Episcopal church in Chippewa Falls began in 1866. At first, members met in homes, or other buildings. Then in 1874 a cornerstone was laid for the first Episcopal church building. It was called Zion Church. In 1882 the name was changed to Christ Church.
Fifteen years of growth followed, but sadly in March of 1897, a fire destroyed the old wooden church building. Much of the furniture was saved, but the organ was lost. Work began on a new building in July of 1897. Incredibly by December 12th of that year a new church was dedicated; a wonderful new stone church that still stands proudly today!
Christ Church once again became an integral part of Chippewa Falls; serving the community while taking part in community affairs.
